Small business hero of the month – Vocal Art Studios.

Recently, Vocal Art Studios were the lucky winners of Yellow Pages’ 1 million Qantas Business Rewards points giveaway. Here’s their story.

Background:

16 years of operation.

Based in Melbourne’s Airport West, Vocal Art Studios is an award winning singing and music school offering music training in all instruments, singing, songwriting, workshops, Rockschool, recording, performances, training tours, a record distribution label, entertainment agency and much more. They’re also the only Australian partner school of The Institute of Contemporary Music Performance in London!

The Gold package.

When she spotted Yellow Pages’ points offer, owner Liz Tripodi, upgraded the business’s Yellow Pages Online listing to a Gold listing in order to earn 30,000 bonus points. Plus the business went in the draw to win 1 million points – and we all know how that worked out!

By upgrading their listing, Vocal Art Studios now appear in a number of different search locations, allowing them to connect with a wider range of customers, which is essential when you’re offering a specialised, niche product. They also utilise their listing to feature video content of their performances and plenty of company info to help customers get a thorough understanding of the range of services they offer.

Liz says, “By simply upgrading my Yellow Pages Online listing, I received 30,000 bonus points which I was thrilled about (let alone winning the grand prize!), so not only do I get a better listing for a small additional amount per month which increases our advertising region, but I received points for it also.”

Winner, winner:

Who do you call first when you win a million Qantas Business Rewards points?

Liz says she was shaking for about an hour when she got the news about her win. “You hear about these competitions, but I’ve never known anyone to win them. My husband and Mum weren’t answering their phones so the first people I told were my friends at HFC  (a frequent flyer community online whose advice and tips I couldn’t do without over the years) in a group post. I also re-read the email about a million times!”

Serious about points.

Collecting and redeeming points for 13 years with various programs for both airlines and hotels, Liz says, “Anything additional you can get these days for a small business is a bonus, as the rewards are few and far between. Travel from Australia is so expensive, so every little bit counts.”

Where to now?

“The points will certainly go a long with upcoming travel for our next student trip to Italy in July 2019 as well as few additional trips already in the works”, says Liz. “My team and some of our student families that know are very excited for me and know that if anyone can maximise the win it’s me! My friends at HFC were also very happy.”
