Marketing Jargon Buster: Organic search results.

What are ‘organic search results’?

They are the results on a Google search page that appear under the paid ads. Search engine optimisation (SEO) is what you need to do to rank in top organic search results.

SEO includes:

  • Keywords: Incorporating keywords associated with your products or services into your website content and meta data is an important element of SEO. But don’t keyword stuff! Google is impressed with the appropriate use of keywords, but not with over use.
  • Content: Writing blogs on relevant topics, producing case studies and posting useful information on social media are all ways to improve your rankings on search engines. Find out more about the importance of keeping your content fresh in our article Evergreen content and how it can help your brand.
  • Backlinking: This is off-site SEO that builds your brand’s authority through linking to other high quality websites. Learn about link-building and reaching out to other businesses here.
  • Local SEO: This is how you can rank well in search engines using local search terms in your content and meta data, and by listing your business on sites such as Yellow Pages Online and Google My Business.
